About Alexis

Alexis Verzal is a writer, performer, avid reader, and lifelong lover of stories.

Her own story took an unexpected turn when she was just 14 months old, when she suffered a traumatic brain injury. Years of rehabilitation and learning to approach the world in her own way have shaped Alexis into someone who is persistent, creative, adaptable, and never afraid of a challenge. While that experience is an important part of her story, it has never defined all that she is.

Theatre has been a huge part of Alexis’s life. She began performing as a child and has since appeared in more than 20 stage productions. Her roles have included Bonnie in Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical, Mrs. George in Mean Girls JR., Pumba in The Lion King JR., Miss Hannigan in Annie JR., Medda Larkin in Newsies JR., Miss Andrew in Mary Poppins JR., Dragon in Shrek JR., Glinda in The Wizard of Oz JR., and Sharpay in High School Musical JR.

Alexis has performed extensively with Lincoln Children’s Theater and Lincoln Community Playhouse, including many productions through the Penguin Project. She has studied voice with Leah Arrington and acting with Sarah Gibson since 2020 and has also participated in director training.

But Alexis’s love of storytelling doesn’t stop when she leaves the stage.

She is an enthusiastic reader with a particular love for history, books, theatre, and music. That love of stories eventually led her to begin creating stories of her own.

Through her e-books, Alexis hopes to entertain, connect with readers, and share stories inspired by the things she knows, loves, and has experienced. Her perspective is uniquely hers—shaped by a life filled with theatre, books, creativity, challenges, adventures, and a family that has encouraged her to keep finding new ways to do the things she loves.

Whether she is learning lines for her next show, getting lost in a book, researching a piece of history, singing, or dreaming up her next story, Alexis is happiest when there is a story involved.
